Once a cop, always a cop

So I was watching a show on TV and noticed that an actor was playing a police officer. Not too unusual. But then I remembered that I had previously seen that same actor play a police officer in a different show.

So I did some research and it’s interesting to note just how many actors seem to reprise roles as police officers / FBI Agents/ etc. I have not idea why that happens.  I just find it interesting. I’f love to hear some theories on this. What’s yours?
